You may recall a couple of weeks ago, I posted a photo of the above building in the process of being demolished. Well, I’m no expert in the field of demolition, but I thought it would be gone soon after. Turns out it’s still keeping on keeping on! The above photo was taken yesterday (Monday 8th March), and as you can see, they still have some way to go.

Spring crocuses, Platt Fields Park.

At least I think they’re crocuses. Either way, these colourful flowers, along with a scattering of snowdrops, are bringing spring to my neck of the woods. When the sun’s out, it feels almost warm! Long may it continue.

Rainy city blues.
It’s a strange sight, a building being pulled down which has stood for some 40 years, surrounded by Victorian buildings still in use. Still, this maternity building needs replacing, and I was lucky to catch it while there was a quarter or so of the building remaining. I imagine it will have completely vanished next time I visit!

More info about the demolition at the Manchester Evening News website: click.

Here’s an earlier picture of the same building, taken some time in 2008:

“Post No Bills”.
Manchester awoke this morning to a fresh covering of snow - although it doesn’t seem as though it will last for long. Made for a gorgeous winter’s morning walk though, and I wasn’t alone amongst a few other walkers, dog-walkers and snappers.

You may have noticed a couple of extra bits over on the left hand side. Firstly, I’ve added a tool which enables you to have a look around various other blogs which are a member of City Daily Photo, as MDP is. I should really have added this months ago, but I did it wrong in the early days of the site and well and truly broke my HTML code in the process! All being well, it is functioning properly now. Why not give it a try and search for another daily photo blog in a city you like?

The other recent change is one of licensing - I had until recently simply used the default ‘copyright’ statement for my photos, but I’ve now changed it to reflect the much more useful Creative Commons licence I use both here on MDP and on my own Flickr account.

I use the somewhat clumsily-monikered “Attribution-Non-Commercial-Share Alike 2.0 UK: England & Wales” licence. What this basically means is that anyone is free to use my photographs for whatever they like - sharing, copying or editing, without needing to ask for my permission - as long as it is not for commercial use, and as long as I am always credited for the original image. You can read the specific definition here if you’re interested.

This change won’t affect you, the reader, but I just thought I’d mention it as a point of interest.

See you tomorrow :)
