Alan Turing memorial, Sackville Gardens.
I’ve lived in Manchester for over a year and I thought it was time I paid Alan Turing a visit. The memorial to the iconic computer scientist is located close to the centre of town, between the University of Manchester and Canal Street - a nod to Turing’s homosexuality (which, being illegal in his lifetime, led to his suicide).
A bit more background can, of course, be found on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Turing_Memorial
